Waiting To Celebrate

Wirral's top wedding venue; is it Thornton Hall? Leasowe Castle? The Village Hotel? Nope, it's that old classic, Namibia.

Lizzie and Dan are a super adventurous and incredibly well travelled couple and they decided to have their wedding ceremony in one of their absolute favourite countries that they've visited together. Namibia is not the first place you would expect for a Wirral couple to wed, but from the beautiful ceremony photographs they displayed (taken by Willem Vrey) and from hearing them talk about it, it seems an incredible place to have your wedding. Having married in this beautiful part of Africa back in April, they planned a summer celebration with all of their friends and family.

All Fun And Games

Church Farm in Thurstaston was the setting for a lovely day of games, drinks, food and fun. Lizzie and Dan (with the help of friends and family) made their own collection of lawn games, including cornhole, croquet, boules and giant Jenga. They were a huge hit with everyone (and an excellent source of photographs for me.)

BBQ, Ice Cream & Dogs

A holy trinity. Lizzie and Dan sourced amazing South African style BBQ in honour of their African wedding ceremony and it did not disappoint. That was followed by fresh ice cream including sorbets and vegan options, all of which were delicious. The day was ticking along nicely with everybody well fed, watered and having plenty of fun, especially the two stars of the show. Not Lizzie and Dan, but a lovely pair of dogs who got plenty of attention and walkies.

A Speech, A Tractor Tour, A Vibe

Dan gave a very heartfelt speech that may or may not have had Lizzie welling up (and definitely had Lizzie's best friend crying.) There was a great vibe to the afternoon as the band got started and everyone was enjoying themselves. I had the pleasure of jumping on a tour of Church Farm, on a trailer on the back of a tractor and got some shots of the wider parts of this lovely venue.

A Lovely Day

The sun began to lower and give us some golden tones across Church Farm as the afternoon progressed to evening. Lizzie and Dan had done a great job managing the space, with various seating areas made from pallets and hay bales, blankets provided as the sun went down and a fantastic food truck serving Dutch style chips (a nod to Dan's half-Dutch heritage.) The band (The Distance) were genuinely one of the best I've ever seen at a wedding and did a beautiful rendition of Bruce Springsteen's 'Tougher Than The Rest' for the couple's first dance. I captured the dance and the aftermath and then left them to the more hardcore partying for the night. It was an absolute pleasure to capture such a relaxed celebration and one I won't soon forget. Congratulations to Lizzie and Dan!
